House in Sennyuji-michi
Kazuya Morita Architecture Studio
- Outline
- This 100-year-old machiya (traditional townhouse) was renovated as a gallery and villa. The gallery building (front), where Japanese crafts and contemporary art can be exhibited, and the accommodation building (back), which mainly consists of Japanese-style rooms, are connected through a narrow alleyway garden. The existing bathroom that blocked the alleyway between the two buildings was removed and a large glass surface was installed, allowing stable light to enter the rooms and at the same time allowing the view to penetrate the entire site. The building has a large glass wall.
