- The designer is involved in a series of public facilities in Yilan, a regional city in Taiwan, that connect "Satoyama, farming village, and city. Through repeated dialogues with the local government and local residents, he reconstructed the unique landscape and institutions of the region. Through collaboration with local residents, they are creating exhibition halls, waterfront facilities, and other places that will be nurtured over time. The plot on the left is a project in Yilan, which took 13 years from 1995 to 2008, called the First Vascularization (1995-2008; bottom photo, right). The public spaces such as welfare centers, parks, bridges, and promenades developed organically within the city, as if the plants were absorbing nutrients and growing. In the Luodong Cultural Factory (2014), designed by carefully reading the history of a town developed by woodworking, a variety of activities such as markets, sports, and performances unfold under a large roof (top photo).
