House in Carrizal

Outline
The house, built through a collaborative process called "minga" in which the residents are actively involved, responds to the topography and vegetation by following the minimum slope of the microtopography with the structure of the residential building off the ground, and by forming a large planter-like mass of continuous floor, wall, and ceiling made of the same material with a structure based on placing soil on high places. The construction method that responds to the topography and vegetation, and the use of recycled materials make us reconsider the relationship between the environment and the house. Drainage and rainwater are purified by plants, and combined with the use of solar heat and conventional technology, sustainability is practiced as a familiar act of construction.
