Naoshima Hall

Outline
The roof is designed based on CFD analysis and wind tunnel experiments, and the pressure difference generated by the gabled roof in response to the prevailing winds in the community promotes air circulation inside the building. Outside air, which is temperature-controlled by geothermal heat, is introduced through the floor and gently exhausted by the negative pressure at the ridge of the roof. In the assembly hall building, well water is used to sprinkle water on the roof during the summer for cooling. Sanbunichi is developing "The Naoshima Plan," which investigates "moving materials" unique to Naoshima, such as wind, water, and sun, and then incorporates them continuously in projects on the island to recognize the value of the island and connect it to the future.
