Nave
Smiljan Radic
- Outline
- Early in his career, Ruddick wrote a discussion of fragile constructions, which are fleeting structures by unknown people. Nave (Ship) is a renovation of a building that suffered two catastrophes (fire in 2006, earthquake in 2010). The barely surviving façade was restored in white, and a black-painted structure was inserted inside it to form a hall. On the roof, a ready-made red and yellow circus tent, the very object of his study, is placed. The building, which has been renovated using a bricolage technique that is not a simple dichotomy of old and new, sails on a course of rebirth, fluttering fleetingly in the wind.
