Beijing National Stadium

Outline
The main stadium for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, known by the name "The Bird's Nest. The massive mesh-like steel frame forms the structure and facade of the stadium, and the translucent membrane roof enhances the openness of the space. The semi-outdoor space encompassed by the mesh was designed as a public space that connects to the urban space outside the stadium, creating a new urban landmark.
