Tokyo Midtown

Outline
It is a redevelopment project on the site of the former Defense Agency headquarters, which was relocated in 2000, and was approved as a private-sector urban redevelopment project under the Urban Redevelopment Special Measures Law enacted in 2002. The district plan covers an area of approximately 100,000 m2 including the adjacent park, with a total floor area of approximately 560,000 m2. Centered on the Midtown Tower, which has five basement floors and 54 stories above ground, office, commercial, residential, and cultural facilities and open spaces are planned to create an inner-city with a concentration of urban functions. Approximately 140 trees left on the grounds of the former Defense Agency were transplanted and preserved. The preceding Roppongi Hills (back left) was completed in 2003.
