Yatsushiro Municipal Museum
Toyo Ito
- Outline
- Ito's first public building. It is located on a flat site in an urban area created by land reclamation. The first floor under the hill is the permanent exhibition room, which is closed and has a large volume, and the storage room is placed on the top floor to open up the second floor, which is the approach to the building, to a bright and open space. The roof, which was developed from the "Silver Hat" (1984) with Toshihiko Kimura, the architect of the structure, appears to float lightly on a small hill.
