- Despite its length, the geometry of the building gives it a lightness of form, and its continuous, unobstructed space is given scale and direction by the repetitive truss structure. The 1.7 km wing roof forms a gentle arc with a radius of 16.4 km. This circularly moving cross-section from a fixed point allowed the roof to be covered with panels of the same size. The structural members are similarly rationally divided. The open air ducts between the trusses are made of Teflon membrane and also serve as reflectors for the lighting. The structure was designed in collaboration with Peter Rice of Arup.
