Bibliotheca Alexandrina

Outline
Located near an ancient circular harbor, the building is 160 meters in diameter, 32 meters high, and 12 meters underground, with a circular, sloping form. 20,000 m2 of reading rooms accommodating 2,000 people are arranged in a stepped configuration on seven terraces, with north-facing skylights on the roof providing indirect light. The thick granite exterior walls are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also have an environmental performance that regulates interior temperatures and reduces energy consumption through its heat storage effect.
