Parc de la Villette Project
Rem Koolhaas
- Outline
- In "New York in Confusion" (1978), Koolhaas accused Manhattan of a naive logic of seeming disorder, which he developed horizontally in the La Villette Park Competition. The plan is to fill the entire site with a band of completely different and independent programs, as if the cross section of a sky scraper had been overturned. Although it was a second prize proposal, together with the Tumi proposal, it aimed to create a contingent, non-scheduled event, and captured the disconnect between architecture and the city of the same era.
