Palaceside Building

Outline
The office building consists of two cylindrical cores and a rectangle with an aluminum cast gutter and eaves. It faces the Imperial Palace. The arrangement of the cores and the divided floor plan create a huge office floor with a total floor area of approximately 120,000 m2 and a standard floor area of approximately 7,700 m2. The pioneering design incorporates the concept of skeleton-infill, and through repeated interior and facility updates, the building has established itself as a modernist office building in Japan for more than half a century. The architects were Shoji Hayashi and others.
