Amsterdam Orphanage

Outline
An orphanage designed by van Eyck, a member of TeamX, who played a central role in the CIAM's 10th Congress (1956) and whose criticism of modernism led to the dismantling of the CIAM at its 11th Congress (1959). The large unit and several smaller units are combined as the basic unit of structure and function, and the whole is constructed from its parts. The units are connected through intermediate areas such as courtyards and corridors with diverse relationships.
