Pedregulho Housing Complex

Outline
It was conceived as part of a social housing program to cope with the progress of urbanization and the expansion of slums. It was planned as an autonomous residential area with medical and educational facilities, and attracted international attention, including for its soft design. However, after the completion of the first phase (1951), the construction of the residential building with its characteristic curved lines became the subject of criticism due to the delay in construction period caused by high cost, and the government abandoned the project due to friction between residents and the administrator.
