Unité d’Habitation Marseille

Outline
This 18-story RC housing complex embodies Le Corbusier's ideas about the city. The building consists of 337 units of 23 types, ranging from single persons to large families. The units are maisonettes, connected to the upper and lower floors by a vaulted living room. Inside there are grocery stores, restaurants, a hotel, a kindergarten and a nursery school on the top floor, and a rooftop garden and a swimming pool, all connected to a high-rise residential complex that has been considered a component of the city since the modern city of 3 million people (1922).
