Reconstruction of Warsaw

Outline
In Warsaw, which was in ruins after World War II, the entire Old Town was restored by utilizing 18th century paintings and sketches made before the disaster. The citizens themselves collected rubble for the "restoration using leftover materials. It was registered as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1980.
