- Le Havre, one of the most destroyed cities in France during World War II, was rebuilt by Auguste Perret between 1945 and 1964. Peret planned the city extensively in a grid pattern and introduced the prefabricated method of designing modular buildings. The historic district was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its preservation techniques.
