Reliance Building

Outline
The 14-story steel-framed office building was designed by C.B. Atwood with structural engineer E.C. Shankland, taking over the work awarded to the firm of Burnham & Root in 1890. The light exterior façade, with its iconic Chicago windows, large-format glass, and glazed terra cotta, is a perfect example of the Chicago School's structural and functional approach.
