Tokyo Station Marunouchi Building
Kingo Tatsuno
- Outline
- The station building is a horizontal station facing the Imperial Palace, with the entrance for the Imperial Household in the center. The distinctive north-south plane separating the boarding and alighting entrances is decorated in the "Tatsuno style". The two-story building was restored after the war, and was rebuilt with seismic isolation in 2012 (lower photo). The symbolic urban space connected to the Imperial Palace via Gyoko-dori Avenue still retains its character as the imperial capital.
