- The "cathedral of railroads," as it is called, is the most majestic station in Western Europe, with its 60-meter-high eclectic dome leading to the steel and glass trainshed by Clément Van Bogarde, a national railway engineer. The novel "Austerlitz" (2001), whose main character is an architectural historian, describes the construction process of this building, including its political situation.
