- Originally a steel-framed market hall built in 1867, it was later converted into a 5,000-seat circus theater. Peltzig rebuilt the theater in Berlin immediately after World War I. He designed an acoustically sensitive dome with numerous stalactite-like ornaments suspended from the ceiling. This innovation, combined with the avant-garde performing arts of Max Reinhardt and others, opened up the history of German theater.
