Scattered Houses in Shugakuin

Outline: This project involved the reconstruction and renovation of a multi-building weekend home situated on a site of approximately 1,700 square meters that slopes gently from east to west. Three traditional houses were relocated from Hida Takayama; each was given a different function and connected by a covered walkway. The garage on the northwest side and the main gate on the northeast side were renovated from existing structures. Although there is a height difference of approximately 5 meters within the site, the area was partially converted into stairs, and a corridor was installed there as well to create a sense of continuity across the expansive site.
