Oiso Longhouse

Outline
Located in a region flanked by the sea and mountains, the site lies along the boundary where the town and farmland blend seamlessly. The complex consists of the Left House (L)—the architect’s second home—and the Right House (R)—a private residence for a friend of the architect. Designed as homes for two families who share a passion for gardening, the structures were planned to flank an existing tree. A “Spine” runs through both buildings, serving as the structural backbone; wiring for lighting and electrical outlets is routed from this central axis.
