House in Yoyogiuehara
Ishii Hideki Architect Atelier
- Outline
- The building stands on a site shaped like an irregular quadrilateral—the result of a clash between real estate logic and the natural topography within a triangular city block. To block views from neighboring properties while allowing light and breeze to enter the site, the building’s volumes are arranged east-west, with a courtyard running north-south. The western volume is angled to follow the shape of the lot, blocking the view from the road on the south side into the courtyard.
