Kodomari Fuji

Terunobu Fujimori＋Kazuhisa Kikkawa

Outline: This one-room inn, limited to one guest per day, is located on a 4,000 m2 hill with terraced rice paddies surrounding it in Suwa. The axis is set toward the northern side of Mt. Fuji to the north. The elongated volume was planned to echo the surrounding ridgelines of the Southern Alps and the Yatsugatake Mountains. Fuji cherry trees were planted on the copper-thatched roof, and the exterior walls were clad with burnt cedar.
