House in Honmoku／Renovation of Kobayashi Residence

Outline: Kobayashi Residence" (2001), designed by Masako Hayashi and built as a two-family house, was renovated into a residence for a couple. The frame of the house was left intact, and the first floor was converted from a living room to a bedroom, while the bedroom on the second floor was made into a second living room. The garden, which had been overgrown with trees and shrubs, was partially cut away and replaced with a carport with a reinforced concrete roof. The garden and the carport are connected by stairs and can be used as one unit.
