- A 50-year-old building was renovated using the vertical log construction method. Haryu Wood Studio and EDH's Masaki Endo (Chiba Institute of Technology) and Masakazu Taguchi (Osaka University of Arts) formed a team to carry out this project. The existing exterior walls were not reinforced against earthquakes at all, but were reinforced with two cores formed by the interior vertical log structural walls. As a result, the existing structure was reinforced while shortening the construction period and reducing costs.
