- Renovation of a machiya. In order for the owner to use the house as a single person while inviting a large number of guests, the existing wooden floor was removed and a spacious earthen floor space was created. The interior and exterior were renovated to focus on the temporal depth of the machiya's "form" and "construction method," not just the contrast between old and new.
