House in Asakusa

Outline
This is a house with a courtyard in Asakusa with a small coffee shop. The courtyard, which can be glimpsed through the improvised exterior walls, gives a sense of surprise to passersby and brings light and wind to the interior spaces. Each room is varied in height and material, and the use of persimmon tannin-dyed shoji screens made of drummed up Ochisui paper amplifies the changes brought about by natural light and gently connects the spaces.
