CH13

Outline
The materials, composition, and light of this house are arranged with "grace" as the key word, so that the quality of the interior space is simple and powerful, neither losing nor disturbing life. The form of the house is a direct reflection of the ingenuity with which it was designed to take in sunlight. With a central courtyard, the south wing is a single-story building with high sidelights on the north side. "The north wing is a two-story volume with light coming in through the courtyard and the atrium adjacent to the courtyard. The interior spaces and the structure are all exposed so that they become one, and the powerful expression of the building is made by using Chigashira cedar and human grinding.
