This project is to renovate one of three row houses in a row built over 100 years ago on Fukurokoji Street in Kyoto, each of the three buildings has a different facade. In order to preserve the machiya for the future, a steel plate core as wide as 2 tatami mats was installed to accommodate the seismic forces of all three buildings while maintaining the layout of the machiya.
