- The designer's own residence on a double flagpole site in kyoto, japan. the house is a renovation of a machiya (townhouse), unique to kyoto, which is long and narrow in a north-south direction. the design is a simple space like a tunnel, utilizing a continuation space connecting the front and back nooks that lead to an alley. by designing from existing objects, the decision-making process is externalized.
