House in Kyoto

Outline
Because the site is approached from three directions, the building has a closed appearance when facing the surrounding area. Entering the building from the approach enclosed by RC walls, one enters an entrance hall with limited light, which leads to a living room open to the garden. The rooms are arranged in relation to each other while being conscious of the way in which light is taken in and the way in which the line of sight passes through. The planting design by Hisaya Ogino is reflected in the white frame of the building. Completed: December 2003.
