- Outline
- The former cattle barn and compost shed of the defunct Ikenabe Ranch have been renovated into a winery. This project, led by Kenji Miyamoto—who runs a restaurant and wine shop in downtown Kobe—aims to establish a base for grape cultivation, harvesting, and winemaking in Osawa-cho, Kita Ward, a rural area of Kobe. The former cowshed was transformed by removing the sash windows and equipment embedded in the roof and openings, creating a storage room, a workspace that doubles as a communal area, and an outdoor space. While the winery is now complete, the client plans to continue making wine and making further architectural enhancements to the building in the future.
