TAMAGAWA JOSUI GREENWAY URBAN DESIGN 388FARM
ATELIER TSUYOSHI TANE ARCHITECTS
- Outline
- A redevelopment project for the Tamagawa Josui Old Waterway Greenway, which was originally constructed between 1982 and 1985. The entire area will be renovated under the theme of “FARM,” with food as the starting point. In 2024, a portion of the approximately 2.6-kilometer-long urban planning road—comprising all six parks (Sasazuka Greenway, Ōyama Greenway, Hatagaya Greenway, Nishihara Greenway, Hatsudai Greenway, and Yoyogi Greenway)—was rezoned as an urban planning park on a pilot basis. Small-scale gardens, established through the allotment garden (community garden) system as educational facilities, are scattered throughout the parks to foster community interaction and self-governance through maintenance and management. As of the time of publication (August 2026), portions of the Sasazuka Greenway, Ōyama Greenway, and Hatagaya Greenway have been completed. Development of the entire route is scheduled to be completed in fiscal year 2027.
