Outline: This is the first phase of a plan to develop a decentralized lodging facility (Albergo Diffuso) in the Aone area of Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture. Kazuhisa Oriyama of Arkinet is overseeing the overall project planning, while awn/AWN is handling the design and construction supervision. A vacant house over 100 years old (total floor area: 194 m²) was renovated into an auberge capable of accommodating up to six guests. The existing exterior walls were left untouched, and the façade was composed of newly installed reinforced steel mesh shelves used to store and dry approximately 3 metric tons of firewood for use during the winter.
