RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT OF BUILDINGS NO. 52, 53, AND 54, NISHI-WASEDA CAMPUS, WASEDA UNIVERSITY

Outline: The new Building 52 is the first phase of the reconstruction project for Buildings 52, 53, 54, and 59 on Waseda University’s Nishi-Waseda Campus. A new Learning Commons and research laboratories have been constructed above the existing Building 52 (architectural design: Katsuo Ando, structural design: Gengo Matsui, completed: 1963, featured in this magazine, Issue 6312). A new Learning Commons and research laboratories have been constructed above the existing Building 52. In the future, Buildings 53, 54, and 59—located to the east and west—will be newly constructed, creating a continuous “Park Floor” spanning the entire length of the campus from east to west.
