The Longhouse with the Engawa

- This wooden building is centered around a day service for the elderly, and also has a café, library, and other functions that can be used by people in the city. The wooden frame, which creates a 2.5-ken deep porch-like space, is arranged in a straight line, and volumes and partitions for living spaces are inserted and scattered among them. The wooden frames have the potential for renewal in accordance with daily life, such as by changing the position of the boundary surfaces in accordance with future use. The project aims to be a place of relaxation not only for the elderly, but also for the community in the future, through efforts to blend in with the community and nature, such as holding a workshop to create a pond in the adjacent garden in collaboration with local residents.
