Small Earth

- This is a practical project to jointly manage the satoyama of Kamanuma village in Kamogawa, Chiba, as a commons (common property), and to connect urban and local residents, resources and livelihood, housing and learning in a cross-sectional manner. The project connects terraced rice paddies (tensui), old private houses, charcoal production, a market, tiny houses, and a learning center, in collaboration with a general incorporated association, Small Earth (Yoshiki Hayashi, Tatsuya Fukuoka, Yoshiharu Tsukamoto) and others. They are designing a "linkage of things" in which water, soil, wood, labor, and knowledge circulate. It is also a place where laboratories of Tokyo University of Science, Tokyo Metropolitan University, Meiji University, and Kanagawa University collaborate on activities and research (see above figure for project name and designer).
