- A competition was held in 2012 for a mixed-use development in the western part of the city of Helsinki. The project aims to promote the use of wood in urban areas by converting the entire city block, including an eight-story office and residential building, to wood. LVL was manufactured from lumber procured in Varkaus, a forest production area, and the units were assembled and transported to the site for construction.
