Yuriage Market
Shoichi Hryu
- Outline
- Two years after the earthquake, a morning market that had operated for more than 30 years in Yuriage, Natori City, Miyagi Prefecture, which was severely damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake, was revived. While it was not easy for the government, residents, and other residents to reach a consensus, the reconstruction process moved forward thanks to the efforts of many people involved. Hariu was involved in the design support for both. Katsuya Hirano of Tohoku University participated in the latter and other reconstruction projects in Ishinomaki City and Onagawa Town from the viewpoint of civil engineering and landscape architecture.
