Elbphilharmonie Hamburg

Outline
A concert hall with a glass enclosure based on brick warehouses along the Elbe River in Hamburg, a city that has long prospered as a trading center. The old port area centered on the warehouse district has been undergoing redevelopment since the late 1990s, and is registered as a World Heritage site along with the trading district. The building was completed in 10 years, even though the construction period was originally planned to be 3 years, and the total construction cost was 10 times more than the original plan. The space between the two volumes is open to the public.
