Sayama Flat

Outline
This project is a low-cost renovation of a 26-year-old company housing complex in the suburbs of the Tokyo metropolitan area. The designer did not study the building from drawings, but instead selected elements such as the existing sliding doors, washbasins, and rough surfaces of the building frame by dismantling the interior by hand. These elements, which stand with a blank space, establish a "relationship of being pulled out" that links them to the new objects.
