Tokyo International Forum

Outline
A comprehensive cultural and information facility including 10 main facilities such as conference rooms, etc., constructed on the site of the former Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building (Kenzo Tange, 1957), consisting of a glass hall building with a lens-shaped plane supported by two large steel pillars, a plaza, and a hall building consisting of a large and small hall. The plaza is located between the hall building and the conference rooms, and the two buildings are connected by an aerial bridge. It was selected and realized through an international competition, which was held at about the same time as the competitions for the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building (1991) and Tokyo Opera City (1996-99).
