- To cope with visitor congestion, the courtyard, which had been occupied by the library facilities, was rehabilitated as a node for traffic flow. With the exception of the cylindrical reading room, the stacks were removed and the courtyard was covered with a glass canopy to make it an interior space. The canopy, composed of triangles, smoothly connects the walls surrounding the courtyard and the cylindrical walls, transforming the courtyard into a light-filled urban plaza.
