- The museum was designed to convey the culture of the sea and the fishing industry. The storage building (1989, photo) is made of precast concrete post-tensioned to ensure the stability and tranquility required for the storage of materials. The exhibition building (1992) is a large space made of large-section laminated wood trusses, providing a warm and free exhibition space. Both structures were designed by Kunio Watanabe, who sought to create a rational structural system at a limited cost, while also taking into consideration the durability of the building in a seaside environment.
