SPIRAL
Fumihiko Maki
- Outline
- A cultural complex facing Aoyama-dori. It has a staircase-like esplanade on the street side, a four-story atrium and a spiral ramp in the back, which is the origin of the building's name, to enhance the circulation of the galleries and other functions and to integrate the space. The facade is also broken down into simple geometric forms, spiraling to form a whole. The esplanade is dotted with chairs, creating a space where visitors can be alone in the city.
