- A former spinning factory built in the Meiji period (1868-1912) was revitalized as a complex facility including a hotel and hall, designed by Urabe, a native of Kurashiki. The buildings were reduced in size to create a central plaza, and tiles from the demolished buildings were laid on the plaza for reuse. Together with the streetscape, which still retains the appearance of the early modern period, it forms a Bikan Historical Quarter. Urabe also designed the Ohara Museum of Art annex (1961) and the Kurashiki International Hotel (1963), contributing to the formation of the Kurashiki landscape.
