Kimbell Art Museum
Louis I. Kahn
- Outline
- A series of cycloidal curvilinear vaults are laid out on a platform. Between the strictly repeated "order" and the emerging "shape," there are multiple layers of function as "form" and the invisible order of the environment. In contrast to the exterior, which is enclosed by walls except for the front side, the interior is flooded with soft light from the top lights and daylight coming in from the scattered courtyards.
