Phillips Exeter Academy Library

Outline
Facing the six-story atrium hall in the center of the building are the open stacks, which are closed off by large circular openings spanning four stories. The functional requirements of the reading room and the stacks, which have conflicting spatial qualities, are precisely integrated in a bold doughnut-shaped configuration that combines horizontally and vertically.
